The Venice Film Festival celebrates Italian production designer Paola Comencini with the Campari Passion for Film Award, dedicated to film industry figures who, together with the director, contribute to excellence in cinematic art creation.

The long list of feature films and TV series for which Paola Comencini has served as production designer includes the dream Italian hit ‘There’s Still Tomorrow’ directed by Paola Cortellesi, the groundbreaking TV series ‘Romanzo Criminale’ and the drama ‘Il tempo che ci vuole,” directed by her sister Francesca Comencini, which will launch out of competition from Venice.

Venice’s statement read “Il tempo che ci vuole,” a tribute to their father Luigi Comencini, the Italian master who co-wrote the Oscar-nominated Cinema Italiano classic “Bread, Love and Dreams” with Gina Lollobrigida and Vittorio De Sica made, described as “a film in which the set design is not only a creative and precise work, but also an incredible emotional journey.”

“Throughout her long career as an architect, set designer and costume designer, Paola Comencini has demonstrated a particular sensitivity in highlighting the distinctive features of eras and characters, navigating genres and languages ​​with great accuracy and ingenuity,” said Artistic Director Alberto Barbera from Venice. in the statement.

Previous recipients of the award include American film editor Bob Murawski; Italian cinematographer Luca Bigazzi; American jazz trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard; British production designer Marcus Rowland; The American artist and costume designer Arianne Phillips and the Italian production designer Tonino Zera.
