As this outlet previously reported, the ongoing investigation has revealed surprising details about Crooks on the day of the assassination attempt.

Scammers initially raised red flags as he was led through security with a rangefinder, a device often used in long-range shooting to identify a target. Because he did not have a weapon, he bypassed security, although officials noted they were keeping an eye on him.

Later, attendees alerted officials when he was seen climbing a nearby building — and horrifying images taken from the meeting showed him lurk outside a secure area about an hour before shots rang out.
