Edmonton police hope to speak to anyone who witnessed a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian in north central Edmonton on Saturday evening.

It happened at the roundabout on Princess Elizabeth Avenue just before 7pm.

Police said a man was crossing the westbound lanes of Princess Elizabeth Avenue at a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a motorcycle leaving the roundabout.

According to the police, both the pedestrian and the motorcyclist slid several meters.

The 54-year-old pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release Sunday morning.

The 25-year-old man driving the motorcycle was not injured.

According to the police, speed did not play a role in the collision, but the glare of the sun probably did.
