Ryan Garcia is not retiring… says the boxing superstar TMZ Sports he will not give his opponents the satisfaction. So when his one-year suspension ends, King Ry will be back in the squared circle!
But until then…he’s ready to fight somewhere other than the ring.
We ran into 25-year-old Garcia, who was in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, where we asked Ryan about the punishment handed down by the New York State Athletic Commission, whether he was really retired and whether he was serious about fighting MMA.
Garcia, who also saw the win vacated and turned into a ‘no contest’, had the following to say about the suspension and recovery of over a million dollars in cash.
“It does [hurt]. [Devin’s] a ‘b’, and his father is a ‘b.’ The only reason I don’t swear is because my daughter is here,” Ryan said of Haney’s father and son combo.
Last week Garcia, 25-1 (with 1 NC), announced his retirement of boxing. We asked him if he planned to retire for good, meaning he would never box professionally again.
‘I’m going to retire for a year. So they don’t get the premium [satisfaction] because you suspended me because it’s nonsense. I have never used steroids in my life. They can all suck.”
As part of his retirement announcement, Ryan said he was heading to the UFC. We asked if he was serious about MMA.
“I love ‘Suga’ Sean [O’Malley] because he defended me [after cheating allegations]. But if he really wants to do it in the UFC, I will do it. Or bare knuckles. S***, I’m ready to fight anyone right now.”
Of course, Ryan isn’t signed to the UFC…but Dana White‘A smart businessman (he has successfully created Floyd Mayweather/Conor McGregor in another sport), and a Garcia vs. O’Malley, their bantamweight champion, would be huge.
