LONDON — Kate, Princess of Wales, has released a video saying she has completed her chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

She announced in March that she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer discovered earlier this year after abdominal surgery and would begin treatment.

Her updated statement on Monday says it has been a difficult year for her family, but it has provided perspective on life and gratitude for simple but important things, like “loving and being loved.”

She thanked supporters for their kindness and compassion and told those battling cancer that she remains by their side.

“As summer comes to an end, I can’t tell you what a relief it is to finally have completed my chemotherapy treatment.

“The past nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and unknown roads.

‘The cancer journey is complex, frightening and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.

“With humility you also come face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you’ve never thought about before, and with that you gain a new perspective on everything.

“More than anything, this time has reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.

“Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have completed chemotherapy, my road to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.

“However, I am looking forward to returning to work in the coming months and, when I can, making a few more public engagements.

“Despite all that has come before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.

“William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from everyone who is helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion are truly humbling.

“To all those continuing their own cancer journey, I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness can come light, so let that light shine brightly.”
