Pre-planned explosion on London film set goes out of control

A pre-planned “controlled explosion” at an east London film set went “out of control” near the O2 arena in Silvertown, according to the London Fire Brigade.

“The fire in it #Silvercity followed a controlled explosion on a film set that spread out of control,” the organization wrote on August 31. “Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire, which is now under control. Staff will remain on site for the remainder of the evening.”

Additional video from onlookers showed multiple crackling explosions as the fire raged, belching clouds of dark smoke. Also pictured in the video is a burning truck emblazoned with the words “BBC News World,” according to BBC News said it was not involved in the incident.

It is currently unclear which film caused the fire, although Deadline will update this post as more details become available.
