Police confiscate firearm during traffic stop in Lindsay, Ont. -Peterborough

A Kawartha Lakes, Ont., man is facing multiple charges after police say they found a firearm during a traffic stop in Lindsay, Ont., early Sunday.

Kawartha Lakes police say an officer conducted a traffic stop in the city around 5 a.m. Police say they found and seized a firearm in the car.

A 41-year-old man from the village of Norland was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, careless transportation of a firearm and being in a vehicle knowing there was possession of a firearm, driving while under suspension and failing to stop at a red light.

He was released and will appear in court in Lindsay on May 30.
