Another questionable pass decision has been made during week one of the finals.

The Storm extended their lead over the Sharks on Saturday with Will Warbrick’s try in the 24th minute.

But on closer inspection, Nick Meaney’s flick pass, which set up Warbrick, appeared to go forward.

“I’d like to see it again, whether it’s a forward pass,” Fox League pundit Steve ‘Blocker’ Roach said in a commentary.

“It’s probably flat at best.”

Commentator Andrew Voss added: “I can live with that… but I can understand some Cronulla fans being a bit upset.”

Referee Gerard Sutton awarded the try and as the Bunker cannot rule on a forward pass, that decision could not be overturned – even if there was sufficient evidence to suggest it was a forward pass.

The try took the Storm into a 12-4 lead after Meaney slotted in the conversion. The Sharks closed the gap to 14-10 at half-time – and fans will be hoping Warbrick’s try doesn’t ultimately decide the outcome.

It comes after Roosters coach Trent Robinson took aim at referee Ashley Klein after a forward pass call denied his side a try at a crucial moment during their qualifying loss to the Panthers on Friday evening.

The match was embroiled in a tense situation with neither side able to gain the upper hand, but the Roosters broke down the left edge with a series of passes that saw Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii pull clear for his second try.

The Roosters faithful were in ecstasy, but they hadn’t heard Ashley Klein’s whistle for a forward pass from Daniel Tupou, which was line-ball at worst.

“I didn’t think it was progressive. I don’t think anyone thought it was forward except the referee,” Robinson said.

“Even when you look at the replays and the angles of the pass, it’s a big decision at that moment and you can’t get that wrong.
