Mubi and Chanel collaborate to present films from the following award winners

Arthouse distributor, production banner and streamer Mubi has teamed up with luxury fashion house Chanel to present a selection of films from winners of the Chanel Next Prize. Launched in 2021, the biennial prize honors 10 artists working in the fields of art, film, performance and music, each receiving €100,000 ($111,000) to advance their practice and realize their most ambitious work.

The newly announced Next Prize Collection, curated by Mubi, will present seven films from the winners of the 2022 and 2024 editions of the prize, all available to stream on Mubi from September 1.

Films include Kantemir Balagov’s ‘Beanpole’ (winner of the next award in 2024), Fox May’s ‘Guts and Glitz’ (2024), Rungano Nyoni’s ‘I Am Not a Witch’ (2022), ‘Here ‘ by Ho Tzu Nyen (2024) “The Human Surge” by Eduardo Williams (2022), “Skate Story: Shortplay Depth I” by Sam Eng (2024) and Cyrus Moussavi’s 15-minute music video for the musician’s album “Jazz Codes” Moor Mother (2024).

“The launch of the Next Prize Collection, a collaboration between Chanel and Mubi, celebrates artists who have demonstrated creative courage and innovation in filmmaking,” said Yana Peel, global head of arts and culture at Chanel. “Each is a winner of the Chanel Next Prize, awarded biennially to visionaries who define the future of contemporary culture through visual arts, film, design, music, dance and gaming.”

Peel added: “It’s exciting to see these new voices in cinema being focused on Mubi, in a shared commitment to showcasing truly great cinema together with Chanel.”

The Next Prize is a program of the Chanel Cultural Fund. Jurors to date have included Tilda Swinton, artist Cao Fei and curators Legacy Russell and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
