Mozilla Firefox 130 introduces ‘Firefox Labs’ with AI chatbot and more

This week, Mozilla released a stable update to its Firefox browser with notable feature improvements. The technology giant has listed all the changes in the Firefox 130 release notes.

The most significant feature upgrade of the latest Firefox 130 is the launch of dedicated in-browser support for AI assistants.

Specifically, users can find this feature in the ‘Settings’ menu under a brand new section called ‘Firefox Labs’. This section contains Mozilla’s latest experimental features for users to try out.

At the top of the ‘Browsing’ section of Firefox Labs, users can find the ‘AI Chatbot’ setting with a checkbox. Checking this feature will open further settings for configuring the desired chatbot. After users select their favorite chatbot, a new side panel will appear in the browser window, offering users AI chat support.

  • Anthropic Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • Google Gemini
  • CuddlingChat
  • Le Chat Mistral

Additionally, the stable version of Firefox 130 includes the following experimental options as part of the Firefox Labs.

  • Automatic picture-in-picture: Automatically enables picture-in-picture for videos when switching between tabs.
  • Address bar with IME: IME (Input Method Editor) allows users to enter complex symbols, such as those from Indian or East Asian languages, using the standard keyboard.
  • Improved language translation: In addition to translating entire pages, users can also translate selected portions of text.
