A unique deal for the province has been accepted by Manitoba teachers.
The new collective labor agreement covers all 37 English-language school divisions, which was previously done through individual agreements for each department.
Teachers voted 95 percent in favor of the agreement, which will include wage increases of more than 12 percent over four years.

Sandy Nemeth, president of the Manitoba School Boards Association, says this new agreement puts more financial pressure on the divisions.
“School boards across the province have always been very honest and open with government that funding must keep pace with the expenditures that school boards are struggling with, and that includes the discussions currently underway about a new funding model. ”
Nemeth says the deal is about more than just money.
“We do our utmost to show and say out loud how important all our staff are and we want them to feel valued, respected and safe at school.”
The new agreement applies retroactively to July 2022.
