JD Vance admits that ‘I have to create stories’ to promote an unsubstantiated migrant narrative

During a 16-minute interview on CNN, host Dana Bash confronted Senator Vance for perpetuating the widely discredited rumor that local cats and dogs were being eaten by Haitian immigrants.

Bash asked: “Before Donald Trump spoke about eating dogs and cats during a debate, it was you, Senator, who first raised this baseless rumor. These are your voters. So why are you endangering them by continuing to spread claims about Haitian immigrants, even as officials in your state say there is no evidence and beg you to stop?”

Vance attempted to defend the claim: “My constituents have presented me with approximately a dozen separate concerns, ten of which are verifiable and confirmable.”

“The American media completely ignored this stuff until Donald Trump and I started talking about cat memes,” Vance continued. “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do, Dana, because you’re completely releasing Kamala Harris.”
