Despite making a name for himself in Philadelphia, Jason Kelce has not always embraced brotherly love.
During the day a recent appearance on “The Big Podcast” with host Shaquille O’NealKelce, 36, recalled how a one-on-one basketball game with brother Travis Kelce once turned violent.
“I was in high school and Trav was a freshman,” Jason said. ‘He had just grown taller than me. He was always more athletic, but I beat him to it. He was just hitting puberty.”
As the game progressed, Jason explained, “He’s feeling himself and I’m getting mad because he’s feeling himself.”
When Travis, 34, began hitting a series of difficult shots in succession, Jason began insulting his younger brother to prevent the brutal attack from continuing.
“He says, ‘That’s bullshit, that’s a foul,’” Jason recalled. “I’m like, ‘I don’t see any referees here. I don’t see anyone calling it out.’ He picks up the ball, throws it to me and goes into the house. I’m like, ‘This motherfucker just threw the ball at me?’
Naturally, Jason followed him in – and that’s when things really got exciting.
“I’m going in, I’m going to grab him on the shoulder and hit him,” Jason said. “We could fight all the time. This was the second time I punched him. I don’t know how it got so heated. I punched him in the face.”
Except with Travis finally being the bigger dog in the fight, the tables were quickly turned for Jason.
“Every time before that he was crying or something,” Jason joked. “He took this punch, lifted me to my feet and hit me on the kitchen floor so hard that the oven was knocked off the rails.”
Jason said the brothers broke out in a “full-on fistfight” at their father Ed could intervene.
“Dad comes after me to take it apart and grabs me,” Jason explained. “Travis pushes me back on top of dad and the only thing that stopped the fight was my dad yelling, ‘Ow, my ribs!’ We thought we had hurt him, so we just got out of it.”
Jason concluded, “That was the last time we ever had an argument.”
