Israeli airstrikes around the Syrian city of Aleppo killed several people early on June 3, Syrian state media reported.

The state administration SANA news agency did not provide a specific toll. According to the report, the attacks took place around the southeastern edge of Aleppo.

‘The aggression led to a number of martyrs and some material losses’ SANA said.

Israel did not immediately acknowledge the attacks and rarely does so when it comes to Syria.

Syria and Israel have been at war since Israel’s founding in 1948. Syrian President Bashar Assad was backed by Iran in his country’s years-long war, and Israeli attacks have previously targeted Iranian positions and equipment.

The attacks also come as Israel battles Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Israel has separately attacked targets in Lebanon as Hezbollah continues its cross-border fire on the country.
