Jon Stewart returned as host The Daily Show on Monday night, and it’s taking its toll as he also headlined the show last Thursday.

“I hosted on Thursday and will be back on Monday,” he said jokingly. “I just don’t know how much longer I could do this – hardly any rest. [I] I slept in a hyperbaric chamber all weekend.”

Stewart was absent from the show last Monday as he swapped hosting for Thursday. The move was intended to allow Stewart to stay in LA for the Netflix Is A Joke festival and appear on John Mulaney’s live show. Jordan Klepper took over on Monday, while Stewart took over as host on Thursday.

Despite Stewart joking, he barely got any rest The Daily Showit was recently announced that he would be expanding his duties with a new Comedy Central podcast, launching and titled in June The weekly show.

“After much thought, meditation and prayer, I have decided to extend my work week to two days,” Stewart said in a statement. “Hello Comedy Central!”

During Monday’s show, Stewart discussed Senator Menendez’s corruption trial and opened up about the many examples of corruption in Congress.

Stewart returned to The Daily Show during presidential election year, and the show will cover the Republican and Democratic National Conventions this summer.

The Daily Show will air a full week of shows from the RNC in Milwaukee (July 15-18) and the DNC in Chicago (August 19-22), respectively, weeknights at 11pm ET/PT.
