According to the Overboard actress, her LA home was “robbed once” while she and Russell were out to dinner. The incident made Hawn think about leaving LA for a safer place like Palm Desert.
“What if we couldn’t live in LA, where would we live? We both decided, I think it’s Palm Desert,” Hawn told Ripa on Wednesday. “It’s so safe.”
“It’s just because LA is terrible,” the Hollywood superstar added. “I mean, we got robbed once.”
According to Hawn, she and Russell went to dinner for “two hours and twenty minutes” and when they returned home that evening, they discovered their house had been burglarized.

The burglars reportedly broke into the couple’s home through a balcony and looted “lots of goodies” from Hawn and Russell’s bedroom and closets.
“We came back and went into the house. I walked up the stairs and to my closet. I just lost it,” Hawn told this week. “They had broken in from the balcony into our bedroom, our closets.”

“And they totally broke down my door,” she continued, “which is a safe door, so they’re very, very advanced, and they got a lot of my treats, if you know what I mean.”
But while Hawn thought the burglary was just a one-time incident, a similar incident occurred less than four months later when the First Women’s Club actress was all alone at home.

“I heard a big thump upstairs – and I was alone, Kurt wasn’t there – and I said, what the hell was that?” Hawn detailed.
“It was just like, was that a sonic boom? Did someone jump somewhere?” she continued. “And it turned out the next day we discovered they were trying to get into my bedroom while I was in the house.”

Hawn revealed that she and Russell have since hired a security guard to protect their LA home following the recent break-ins and break-ins.
“I’ve had a security guard, especially when I’m alone now,” the superstar said. ‘I am never without a guard. We have a good relationship with our guard.”

If RadarOnline.com previously reported, hawn’s interview with ripa on wednesday came as los angeles continues to suffer from a increase in burglaries and property crimes.
According to the LAPD, the city recently saw a 3.5% increase in property crimes. Mayor LA Karen Bass has since pledged to “keep Angelenos safe” amid the city’s increase in crime.

“My number one job is to keep Angelenos safe,” Mayor Bass said recently rack. “During my first year, we took urgent action to address the LAPD recruitment and retention crisis and invested in proven, community-led approaches to tackling crime.”
“There is much more work to do and many Angelenos do not feel safe,” the mayor added. “Together we will continue to implement our comprehensive approach to public safety.”
