Will.I.am will be joined by a range of speakers including The Sidemen manager Jordan Schwarzenberger at the new “forward-looking” Frontiers strand of the Edinburgh TV Festival, Variety can confirm.

Also speaking are HaZ Dulull, Yammy, ShxtsNGigs, Ben Zand, Fitwaffle, Ash Holme, Elz the Witch, Chris Clements, Wimbledom’s head of digital products, and Danny Lorimer, head of creative strategy at Cowshed Collective.

The Frontiers strand, which is supported by Screen Scotland, aims to look at the future of the television industry and draw inspiration from related industries including digital, games and brands.

Sessions include panels such as ‘The Rise of the Telly-Verse: Where TV Meets Gaming’, ‘Digital Born, Bred and Booming’ and ‘Back to the Future’ Turning Old IP Into Digital Hits.

Will.I.am will speak about AI and the future of creativity.

The line-up was selected by an advisory team including Laura Marks, Channel 4’s senior digital commissioning editor, Strong Watch Studios co-founders Thom Gulseven and Ben Powell-Jones, BBC daytime commissioning editor Muslim Alim, Jungle Creations CEO Melissa Chapman, Arcade Media co-founder Jordan Schwarzenberger and CoLab X co-founder and CEO Matt Ford.

“I’m excited to launch the first Frontiers asset with such a playful and ambitious lineup of creators, strategists, innovators and brands, all working at the forefront of the spaces where TV and digital intersect,” said Rowan Woods, creative director of the Edinburgh TV Festival. “In a year where the festival is looking to the future and wondering where the industry is headed, it’s exciting to be able to share a snapshot of what that future could look like.”
