Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung released a statement following the leaks.

He said: “These documents were obtained illegally foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to disrupt the 2024 elections and sow chaos in our democratic process.”

“This became apparent on Friday from a new report from Microsoft Iranian hackers broke into a ‘senior official’s account of the US presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential candidate.”

Cheung declined to say whether the campaign had contacted Microsoft or law enforcement about the hack.

The identity of the official targeted in the campaign was not identified.
