David and Victoria Beckham’s marriage has reportedly deteriorated from a real-life romance to a ‘distant business relationship’, according to an explosive new book by author and former BBC journalist Tom Bower, RadarOnline.com has learned.

In Beckham’s house, expected to be released next week, Bower claims the celebrity couple began waging a ‘media war’ when their relationship hit a rocky point following rumors the football star was having an affair with a Dutch model Rebecca Loos.

“Reflecting the acrimony between the Beckhams, the two publicists began competing rather than working together to promote their own client,” Bower wrote in one passage, per The Herald Sun.

“Both told negative stories about the other side to their favorite tabloid journalists,” Bower continued, adding that the fallout from the ensuing battle in the press was “as if an atomic bomb had gone off.”

They reportedly continued to clash in 2016, when David worked in Miami while Victoria built her fashion label and cared for their children in London. “During London Fashion Week that year, she asked Beckham to return to London for dinner… By the end of the celebration she must have wished he had stayed in America,” Bower wrote. “Some whispered that the two had previously become involved in a foul-mouthed argument.”

Another major argument arose at Glastonbury in 2017, after David and his entourage partied with models until 5am. When Victoria arrived at the festival the next day, she “went in a golf cart through the shabby campers to the VIP area. She was furious that her husband had not answered her calls. Finally David appeared. were engaged in a heated argument.”

Bower’s book paints a very different picture than the loving relationship depicted in the recent Netflix docuseries Beckham and maybe that was the plan.

Despite their problems, the couple reportedly made the joint decision to present a united front and maintain the “illusion of a happy family” for the public. “They stuck together to support the brand,” Bower said.
