Crunchyroll has acquired North American and select international theatrical rights Solo Leveling -ReAwakening which is a summary of the first season of the anime series Solo levelingan adaptation of the best-selling Korean webtoon, with a special preview of the first two episodes of the second season. The Sony-distributed title will hit theaters on December 6.
More than ten years have passed since a path called a ‘gate’ connecting this world, another dimension suddenly appeared and people with superhuman powers, called ‘hunters’, have awakened. Hunters use their superhuman powers to conquer dungeons within the gates to make a living, and Sung Jinwoo, a lowest-ranking fighter, is considered the weakest fighter in all of humanity. One day he comes across a double dungeon, a high-level dungeon hidden within a low-level dungeon. A mysterious quest window appears in front of a seriously injured Jinwoo. On the brink of death, Jinwoo decides to take on the quest, making him the only person who can level up.
Solo leveling is animated by critically acclaimed A-1 Pictures (Sword art online), with moving images by Production IG (Attack on Titan, PSYCHO PASS). The series is directed by Shunsuke Nakashige (Sword art online). Additional staff credits include music by Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan) and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (K-pop band), character design by Tomoko Sudo and monster design by Hirotaka Tokuda.
The anime series is an adaptation of the best-selling Korean web novel written by Chugong, which was later adapted into a webtoon and manhwa in 2018, with artwork by DUBU. The first season of Solo leveling debuted worldwide on Crunchyroll on January 6, 2024, with a second season coming in January 2025.
