In-demand free agent Hugh McCluggage has re-signed with Brisbane on a seven-year deal, keeping him a Lion until the end of 2031.
From Channel 7 Mitch Cleary, the 26-year-old, has remained loyal to his club of eight years in a move that takes one of the few restricted free agents off the market.
Brisbane is expected to officially announce his signing tomorrow.
The winger and midfielder is having a fantastic year with Brisbane, despite his club having a less than ideal start to 2024.
At mid-season, McCluggage is averaging more than 25 disposals and almost five clearances per game – a career high in both statistics.
His commitment to the Lions has left clubs like St Kilda and North Melbourne in limbo, who were reportedly willing to offer McCluggage more than $1 million for a deal even longer than what he just signed.
He has played 166 games since 2017 and scored 108 goals in the same period.
