Chiume’s son, Nongelo Chiume, revealed in an interview that his mother was “admitted for a medical procedure” before she died, but he “cannot confirm the details of her death.”
Nongelo added: “She recovered well, but unfortunately we learned the news of her death today.”
In a second statement posted on Instagramthe family confirmed that Connie’s procedure followed an unspecified “episode of illness.”
They wrote: “Her children would like to express their deep appreciation for the doctors and nursing staff who provided exceptional care during her stay. The family asks for privacy during this difficult period.”
