ATLANTA– An autopsy was performed on rapper Rich Homie Quan on Friday, but his cause of death will not be known until further tests are completed, officials said.
The Georgia medical examiner’s office in Fulton County said the investigation was completed a day after Quan, whose legal name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died at an Atlanta hospital at age 33.
“The cause and manner of death depend on the completion of laboratory tests and microscopic examination of tissue slides,” the medical examiner said.
It was not immediately clear when the testing would take place, but the process could take months.
The Atlanta rapper was one of the biggest names in hip-hop in the mid-2010s, gaining mainstream fame with trap singles “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).”
