Akasa Air completes 2 years of operations and sets new ambitious goals, BA

Akasa Air, India’s fastest growing airline, celebrated its second anniversary on August 7, celebrating a remarkable journey that has seen the airline achieve unprecedented milestones in the aviation industry. Launched on August 7, 2022, with its maiden flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Akasa Air has quickly established itself as a popular airline in Indian skies.

In just two years, Akasa Air has served over 11 million passengers, earning the title of India’s most on-time airline.

Reflecting on the airline’s journey, Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, said, “Two years ago, we set out to redefine air travel in India. Today, we can proudly say that we have delivered on that vision by delivering an unparalleled flying experience with the most comfortable seats, a fresh cabin environment and a curated culinary offering. The airline now connects 22 domestic and five international cities and operates more than 900 weekly flights. In January 2024, Akasa Air made history by placing an order for 150 aircraft, a record achievement within just 17 months of launch. Akasa Air became the first Indian airline to commence international operations within 19 months of launch, with flights to Doha, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah and Kuwait. The airline now operates more than 35 weekly international flights, further expanding its global footprint.

With a focus on cost leadership and financial discipline, Akasa Air is on track to achieve profitability. The airline recorded a 300 percent growth in available seat kilometers (ASKM) in the past financial year, setting a new benchmark in global aviation. Looking ahead, Akasa expects ASKM to increase by 50 percent year-on-year, cementing its position as an industry leader.
