Nick Pasqual, a background actor on “How I Met Your Mother,” was apprehended at the U.S. border after being accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend, makeup artist Allie Shehorn, multiple times, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed.
On May 23, around 4:30 a.m., Pasqual allegedly broke into Shehorn’s Los Angeles home and stabbed her multiple times. She was subsequently hospitalized with serious injuries. Shehorn’s credits include ‘Rebel Moon’, ‘Family Switch’ and ‘Babylon’.
Following the attack, Pasqual reportedly fled the scene and was later detained at a US-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. The court issued a $1.07 million arrest warrant against the actor. He will be extradited to Los Angeles County where he will face charges. If convicted as charged, the maximum sentence would be life in state prison.
According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office: Pasqual is charged one count of attempted murder, one count of premeditated home burglary in the presence of a person and one count of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancée, boyfriend, girlfriend or parent of the child.
Shehorn recently filed a restraining order against Pasqual for domestic violence. Per the LA Timesa Los Angeles County Superior Court judge approved the restraining order, but it is not known whether Shehorn served it on Pasqual before the attack.
On the day of the stabbing, Shehorn’s colleagues became concerned when she didn’t show up to do makeup for an indie horror film she was working on.
In the restraining order, Shehorn said that before May 23, Pasqual physically assaulted her in the home they shared, including hitting her, breaking down doors, hitting her head on the ground and sexually assaulting her.
According to the LA Times, Shehorn underwent emergency surgery after the May 23 attack and remained in intensive care for several days.
Her friends Emily MacDonald and Jed Dornoff started a GoFundMe to assist with medical and living expenses for Shehorn’s recovery. Dornhoff posted a message on Tuesday that read: “Allie has been moved from the intensive care unit. She is still determined not to let this defeat her and is trying to heal through the pain.”
