The Chicago White Sox are the team with the worst record in baseball this season and it seems even the baseball gods are against them as Chicago lost its series against the Rangers on Wednesday.

White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn came within inches of stealing the game against the Texas Rangers in the ninth inning, then robbed Rangers outfielder Travis Jankowski of his walk-off home run with a spectacular catch.

Jankowski scaled the fence in left field at Guaranteed Rate Field and jumped to catch Vaughn’s potential three-run home run for the second out of the inning. The Rangers held onto the 4-3 lead and claimed a narrow victory after Jankowski’s try.

Baseball fans couldn’t help but feel for the White Sox, who are at a record low this season.

“The White Sox can’t have ANYTHING, bro.”

‘That’s just cruel’ wrote another fan.

“The White Sox literally can’t take anything. Like this is straight up franchise abuse lmao,” a fan sounded.

Several fans also praised Travis Jankowski for his potential catch of the year.

“Catch of the year, hands down,” wrote one fan.

“CATCH OF THE YEAR”, wrote another fan.

“That catch was insane! Jankowski has some serious hops! Great play to keep the game alive, no doubt about it,” read another comment.

Reflecting on his acrobatic catch to keep his team in the game, Jankowski said:

“The hangtime was perfect,” Jankowski said. ‘If it was a meter further, [it’s] probably out of my reach. … It’s the perfect alignment. We played deep. I was [shaded] pull side, so a little deeper than I probably should have been. Just everything perfectly in a row. I timed the jump pretty well, and thank goodness it stayed in my glove.

Meanwhile, Rangers reliever Andrew Chafin was grateful for his teammates’ spectacular catch for a first-time home run heist off his pitching.

“This is the first time a guy has ever robbed me of a home run,” Chafin said. “I told him I owed him a few steak dinners for that.”

The Rangers will look to defeat the White Sox when they meet for the final game of the series on Thursday.
