After a 36-year wait, the juice is finally unleashed again in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” this time grossing a record-breaking $110 million during its premiere weekend.

The highly anticipated Tim Burton sequel has the third best opening weekend of the year, behind only the blockbusters ‘Inside Out 2’ and ‘Deadpool’ & Wolverine.”

Michael Keaton returns as the titular ghost and Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder also reprise their roles as Delia and Lydia Deetz, with newcomer Jenna Ortega playing the latter’s daughter, Astrid. Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux complete the cast.

The sequel is the second-highest-grossing September film of all time, behind only 2017’s “It,” which opened with a whopping $123 million. The 2019 sequel, “It Chapter 2,” opened with $91 million.

The original “Beetlejuice” film made just $8 million in its 1988 opening weekend, not adjusted for inflation, but went on to earn $77 million at the domestic box office as it became a cult classic.

The exciting opening weekend kicks off the fall movie season with a bang after a sleepy Labor Day weekend and a relatively slow August in which newer films struggled as holdover films dominated the box office.
