2024 AFL Teams Preliminary Finals

5 Min Read

Taylor Adams has been confirmed as Sydney’s provisional latest unlucky story, missing the clash with Port Adelaide as the Swans opted for Robbie Fox’s defensive stalwart instead.

Fox, 31, has been selected in place of injured captain Callum Mills, who pulled his hamstring in training last week – and faces an uphill battle to prove he is fit for a potential grand final next Saturday.

Fox’s inclusion is the only change to John Longmire’s starting line-up, with Caiden Cleary, Peter Ladhams and Aaron Francis as the emergency trio.

Meanwhile, visitors from Port Adelaide have been remembering last week’s late Charlie Dixon – who has apparently recovered from a lingering illness but was also in an indifferent state prior to the issue.

Ryan Burton has also joined the squad after failing a fitness test at Alberton Oval last Thursday.

Making way for the duo are Todd Marshall (concussion) and last Friday’s substitute Will Lorenz, with the latter on the emergency list alongside the greats Ollie Lord and Dante Visentini.

Geelong, who previously ruled out the return of premiership veterans Tom Hawkins and Cameron Guthrie, have made one change, surprisingly omitting retiring veteran Zach Tuohy in favor of Oisin Mullin in place of five-time All-Australian Tom Stewart.

Sam De Koning is once again not selected and joins Tuohy and Ted Clohesy on the Cats’ emergency list.

Chris Fagan’s Lions side will travel to the MCG unchanged from last Saturday’s heartbreaking win over GWS, with Lachie Neale given the all-clear to play despite concerns about wearing a moon boot earlier this week.

Harry Sharp, Darcy Fort and Darragh Joyce are Brisbane’s emergencies.
